Here is a bit of history about the Lakehead Antique Car Club.

The L.A.C.C. loosely came together sometime in 1957.  A handful of people who owned and shared an interest in the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of old cars came together to form the club.  This group grew in numbers over the next few years to a membership of 25 faithful enthusiasts.  Monthly meetings began, which were held at various members homes, the Toivo Street Community Hall, and the Sherwood Hall on Edward Street.

By the early 1970’s, membership had grown to approximately 60 members.  The club boasting colours of blue and gold continued to grow.  In 1985, the club became incorporated as a non profit organization and was renamed as the Lakehead Antique Car Club.  The club is managed by an elected ten-member Board of Directors, five of whom make up the presiding executive and hold these positions for a two-year term.  By 1990 the membership grew to approximately 100 and included not only owners of antique vehicles, but also street rods, customs, and special interest vehicles.

2007 marked the 50th anniversary of the Lakehead Antique Car Club, a significant milestone for any car club.

Although a not-for-profit club, each year various Club functions generate funds, in which a portion supports the club and the balance is donated to numerous community charitable organizations such as George Jeffrey Children’s Centre, Our Kids Count, various local food banks, Ronald McDonald House (Toronto), Toys for Tots, Thunder Bay Museum, Thunder Bay Shelter House, and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre to name a few.

To date the Club is still thriving!  If you have a love of vintage vehicles, come and join us!
