Corn Roast – September 11, 2016
Thank you so much, Jim, Josie and Nan for your hospitality at the corn roast. Everybody was so amazed at your beautiful lawns, and back yards. It was amazing to see all the cars parked, and for once our weather cooperated, in fact the day couldn’t really have been better!
Thanks to Keith Scott for all his work organizing the games, and to Joyce Dahl and crew who came early to shuck corn and get things ready. And, of course, thanks to all the terrific cooks and bakers who brought salads, desserts, pierogies, baked beans and other delights! It was a very good day!

After another successful LACC corn roast the much more anticipated first-ever car club games resulted in some surprising results.
In the first-ever water balloon toss, Bill and Jackie Exell were first and secured a bottle of wine as their prize. Bob and Joyce Dahl achieved second place, and to their amazement, Chuck and Karen Kelner placed third.
As part of the second set of games, the marshmallow badminton contest results are still currently under video review. Our host, Jim Vaillant, having been asked to collect the winning marshmallow, apparently was observed kicking one particular marshmallow, then bending over to pick it up only to announce that it was his #39 marshmallow that had traveled the farthest. In second place, to Sue’s amazement, was Mr. Ed. (Biloski), while yours truly garnered third place in spite of all of my pre-Olympic practicing in my back yard.
Given the success of the day, I trust all those present will be willing to put their reputations on the line again in our LACC version of Special Olympics. Until next year….
